A few weeks ago I wrote a post about nominating librarians for non-library awards. This has nothing to do with that, but I kinda feel it’s in the same vein. Bobbi Newman is one of those librarian-scholars who ought to be out there speaking about the role of libraries in developing transliteracy and so anything we can do to help her in her research, professional development, etc. is not only good for her, but good for our profession.
I’ll get to the point. Bobbi Newman is asking for help getting to ALA Annual this year:
just realized if each of my Twitter followers donated 50 cents I could go to Annual. And then some! sorry bummed about not going to ALA

If everyone who sees this post donates $1, I think we could make that happen (see PayPal “Donate” button on right side of her homepage). I’m going to donate right after I publish this post. I challenge you to do the same. Go forth, and make her day!
John
Thank you so much for putting this drive together. I’m honored and humbled that you and so many I’m worthy of the effort to send me to Annual.
I’m estimating that I’ll need a minimum of $1,500.
With the help and advice of some good friends I’ve come to the decision that if the minimum amount isn’t raised by Memorial day I’ll put the money towards attending MidWinter in Seattle.
